Coaching FAQ

What’s the difference between therapy and coaching?
There are numerous distinctions between therapy and coaching. The most important distinction is that a therapist helps clients manage mental health (depression and anxiety most frequently). Coaches do not focus on this; if your mental health struggles are your biggest issue, any good coach should refer you to a therapist. Beyond that, coaches are typically more future-focused, helping you discover solutions to your challenges. Therapists will often spend a lot of time focused on healing and letting go of the past. There is cross-over as many therapists use coaching techniques as well.
What do therapy and coaching have in common? Both therapists and coaches will work on a cognitive level, helping you reframe and shift your thinking and mindset to see problems through a new lens. In both cases, you’ll be doing a lot more talking than the therapist or coach and both should be very skilled in asking you questions to help you discover your own answers. The truth is that the answers are all inside of you. In both therapy and coaching, ultimately the success of your engagement is up to you. Your therapist or coach is a trusted partner but you are doing the real internal work. They can’t do the work for you.

What makes your coaching different?
I have a unique combination of experiences and education that influences my coaching. I had a successful 12 year corporate life within tech in learning and organizational development, so I understand the elements that lead to success (and burnout) in the corporate world. I have been a leadership development facilitator for years and have led well over 100 trainings on leadership and management skills so I am well versed on best practices that I weave into sessions. I also have masters in Spiritual Psychology and a background of deep spiritual practice and experiences, so I carry with me a spiritual lens to look at problems through. I often see myself as straddling the very mainstream (logical and skeptical) world with the very out-there world of magic and unexplainable phenomenon. I am intuitive and use this form of information (some call intuition the 6th sense) in my coaching. One day in the future, I believe they will teach intuition as a skillset in the corporate world. But for now, we’ll have to settle with data-driven decision making. :) I often find myself working with professional women who are looking to develop their leadership skills to move up in their career. I use my experience as a past HR leader and coaching skills to help women define their metrics for success and learn to lead more confidently.

What is the process for getting started working with you?
If we have not met before, I like to start with a 30-minute meet and greet where we can get to know each other and we can see if we might be a good fit to work together. My coaching is goal focused, so when we begin coaching you will identify one more goals that you want to focus on. As a coach, I'll help you stay accountable to achieving your goals. Anything that gets in the way - we dig in and work on in your coaching sessions.
How long are the coaching engagements?
Once you have decided you want to get started coaching, you choose the length of the engagement - most clients work with me for 8 or 12 sessions where we can work on 1 or 2 goals. Some clients choose to work with me for longer 1-2 years because they are getting so much value and have bigger goals they want to accomplish. My sessions are 45 minutes and held over Zoom. The cadence can be set to meet your needs anything from weekly to monthly. Most clients see me 2x a month - enough to build momentum and yet also fit into your busy life. You can click on the packages below to sign up and pay for the package. Once you've signed up, I'll send you over a coaching agreement to sign and onboarding questionnaire, and we can schedule our first session.
